So. Times are weird.
I never thought I would live during a pandemic. Or be a nurse during a pandemic. But here we are. I am required to wear a mask for my entire 12 hour shift right now and let me tell you, it sucks. After the first few shifts, I realized I was going to need something to save my poor ears. I was gifted (and purchased) some ear savers. Essentially, its a strip of fabric with buttons attached to either end so the mask loops go around to the back of your head. I also purchased headbands with buttons attached. Both have made the mask wearing more comfortable.
With Walt Disney World opening back up (and being an Orlando local and passholder), I knew I would need to do something similar for my Minnie Ears! So here we are.
You will need:
-2 buttons (I used these)
-4 clear, elastic hair ties (I had these on hand)
Mickey Ears!
First, pick out the color buttons you want to use. I like to coordinate so I used purple to go with my purple ears. And then pick out 2 medium sized hair ties. You may want to stretch them a bit to make them easier to work with.

Next, flatten the elastic to make one end fit in the button hole. Thread one end of the elastic through the hole. Once it’s through the other side, anchor it and thread the other end through the adjacent hole. Do the same thing with the other elastic, threading it through remaining button holes. Be careful and be sure to hold on to one end as you thread the other or the elastic will just pull through.
Flatten elastic Push through hole
Once you have both elastic through the button holes, grab your patience! This part can be a bit tedious. So, you are going to grab the the top (whichever way you want to be top, it doesn’t matter) loops of the same elastic and stretch the loops over the end of one side of your ears. Once they are on, do the same with the lower loops. Now, they will be tight on there but you can move them up or down depending on what is comfortable for you!

And that’s it!! Something super simple that save your ears while being safe in the parks!

Stay healthy and wear your mask!!
Wow! This is such a great trick and easy to do. Thank you for the helpful information!
